St. Louis Blues 4–0 Dallas Stars: match recap

Match recap

Shorthanded St. Louis shut out Dallas in a defensively stingy road win, with Mason McTavish and Dalibor Dvorsky providing the offense and a stingy Blues defense silencing the Stars despite missing key pieces on both sides.

The Blues jumped ahead early on a Mason McTavish goal, assisted by Colton Parayko and Jimmy Snuggerud, and Dalibor Dvorsky doubled the lead later with help from Philip Broberg and Pius Suter. St. Louis held that 2-0 advantage the rest of the way, nullifying any Dallas push with a disciplined, shot-suffocating approach. Louis made its chances count.

Key factors

• Early goals built a wall for St. Louis — McTavish and Dvorsky capitalized on limited opportunities, giving the Blues a cushion they never relinquished.
• St. Louis 'D' smothered Dallas — the Stars failed to generate a single shot on net (per chart data), an extreme defensive clampdown that erased any home-ice advantage.
• Injuries depleted both rosters, but the Blues' depth stepped up — with Duchene on LTIR for Dallas and key Blues like Tucker out, St. Louis's supporting cast provided the decisive offense.

The Analyst's verdict

For St. Louis, this was a blueprint win: tight defense, opportunistic scoring, and no panic when a lead was established. With Dallas missing Matt Duchene (LTIR, lower body per ESPN) and the Blues still integrating new faces, both teams will need to sharpen their shot volume to sustain success—but St. Louis's October struggles (historically sub-.500 per Yahoo Sports) look less ominous after a shutout like this.
